Jerusalem — The Eternal City
Sacred to both Jewish and Hindu traditions, Jerusalem stands as one of humanity's most profound spiritual centres. We document its layered history and the deep reverence both communities hold for this ancient city.
The HindJews Foundation
The HindJews Foundation preserves, protects, and celebrates the shared cultural heritage of Hindu and Jewish civilisations — their sacred sites, living traditions, and intertwined histories.
"We are the keepers of a shared story — one written across centuries, continents, and cultures. The HindJews Foundation exists to honour the bonds between two of the world's oldest civilisations, to remember the cultural struggles they have witnessed together, and to celebrate the extraordinary heritage they share."
Two ancient worlds. One shared story.
Our Work
Sacred to both Jewish and Hindu traditions, Jerusalem stands as one of humanity's most profound spiritual centres. We document its layered history and the deep reverence both communities hold for this ancient city.
The Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya represents centuries of devotion, cultural memory, and the enduring spirit of Hindu civilisation — a story of resilience that resonates deeply across faiths.
Oral histories, manuscripts, ceremonies, and artefacts that bear witness to shared struggles and triumphs. We preserve these stories so they are never forgotten.
A Shared Past
Jewish exiles arrive in India following the Babylonian conquest, finding refuge and welcome among Hindu communities.
Following the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, Jewish communities deepen their roots in Kerala, establishing the Malabar Jewish community.
The Paradesi Synagogue is built in Cochin — the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth — standing beside Hindu temples in harmony.
The HindJews Foundation continues this legacy, connecting communities worldwide and preserving a heritage that spans millennia — from Jerusalem to Ayodhya.
